Preparing for the General Data Protection Regulation

The General Data Protection Regulation or GDPR is about giving EU citizens more control over the personal information they share online, by making sure companies in and outside of Europe process any personal data of European citizens gathered carefully while following best practices and strict rules.

While all of this might not make any sense to you, it will probably affect you in some form if you run a website. If you use any form of visitor tracking you already need to comply with this law, the same if you set your own cookies or use social media integrations (think Facebook like and share buttons).

In this document provided by the Dutch organization for privacy you can find detailed information on how to make your website ready for the upcoming GDPR.
